IP Reputation<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything on the Internet can be traced back to an <strong>IP address<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And so can your <strong>email accounts<\/strong>\u2014more specifically, the <strong>servers used to send your emails<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your emails will travel through the email-sending server, which has its own IP address, and ESPs track this IP to determine whether your emails are trustworthy or potential spam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Okay, so where does the problem start here?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It starts when you\u2019re using a <strong>shared IP address with other senders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you send emails from a shared IP, your reputation isn\u2019t just based on your own email behavior\u2014it\u2019s <strong>influenced by every other sender using the same IP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, if the other senders end up sending spam, receiving high bounce rates, or getting too many spam complaints, it <strong>affects the entire IP\u2019s reputation\u2014including yours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, even if you yourself are a reliable actor on the internet, the fact that you\u2019re using the same IP address as a malicious person is enough to negatively affect your reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"6-Domain-Reputation\">6. Use a Dedicated IP Address<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My first suggestion is that you switch to a dedicated IP address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back in the \u201c<a href=\"#What-Factors-Affect-Your-Email-Sender-Reputation\"><em><strong>What Factors Affect Your Email Sender Reputation?<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u201d section I would have told you about how a shared IP address can seriously affect your sender reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, if you <strong>want more control over your sender reputation and email deliverability<\/strong>, moving to a dedicated IP is the best way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"2-Authenticate-Your-Email-Security-Protocols\">2. Authenticate Your Email Security Protocols<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Authenticating your domain is the best way to show ESPs you\u2019re someone legit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It shows you\u2019re a trusted sender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three important protocols you should set:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sender Policy Framework<\/strong>: SPF is a DNS protocol. It ensures that all the servers sending your emails are authorized by your domain to do so.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>DomainKeys Identified Mail<\/strong>: DKIM helps a recipient verify who sent an email, and whether it is from the source that it claims to be from. It\u2019s a way to prevent phishing and spam emails.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance<\/strong>: DMARC enables you, as a domain administrator, to authorize and control the email addresses associated with your domain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"3-Track-Spam-Rates-through-Google-Postmaster\">3. Track Spam Rates through Google Postmaster<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In my experience, the one sure way of losing sender reputation is to have a high spam rate. And the first step to reducing spam rates is to monitor it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we\u2019ve seen, Google Postmaster is one of the best free tools that helps you visualize and monitor your email addresses\u2019 spam rate along with several other analytics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"background-color: #e7f0fd;padding: 30px 40px;margin-top: 20px;;margin-bottom: 20px;border-radius: 10px;border: 2px solid #1D4ED8;\">\n   <p style=\"margin: 0!important;\"><strong>My suggestion:<\/strong> Sign up for Postmaster and periodically monitor your domain\u2019s spam rate.
